The Isatope Rescue
Type: Indoor or Outdoor Cooperative
Suitable for: Patrols or Webelos 2 dens
Equipment: Blindfold,
Isatope (a small block of wood)
Tongs
Heavy gloves (optional)
#10 can
Bucket
Heavy rubber band that will fit tightly around the #10 can.
Several lengths of rope tied to the rubber band so that the
band can be streached to fit over the can.
How to Play: This is a team game designed to foster communication skills and interdependance.
Layout. Place the Isatope, the #10 can and the bucket on the ground several feet apart. The can and the bucket are upright, upen ends up.
One member is blindfoled - he is the astronaut gathering isatopes on the surface of a distant planet - and
wears heavy gloves and carries the tongs.
The Other members guide him with only voice commands to pick up the isatope with the tongs and
place it in the can.
Once the isatope is safe within the Isatope Carrier Device (the can) the other members streach the rubber band by pulling on the ropes and lower it over the ICD and then lifting the rubber band, the ICD and the Isatope by carefully raising the ropes and placing the whole affair inside the bucket without tipping
anything over.
