COMMENTS: Mr. and Mrs. Smith:
As a new den leader I was thrilled to find your site. I spent 12 years as Girl Scout including Daisy and Brownie Assistant Leader as a Senior Scout, but Cub Scouting is quite different. It has been a bit of a challenge especially as most of the leaders in our pack are new as well and there is not a body of knowledge to draw from. Sites like yours have been a blessing to assist us with organizing and revitalizing our Pack. I have just recently started working on a Pack website. I was wondering if you would allow me to link to your site from my resources page once I've completed our site? My thanks to you for providing this site! Kathy Johnson
I welcome links to these pages, especially if they help Cub Scout leaders find ideas.
Bill

COMMENTS: I was looking for games to reinforce the Readyman badge requirements. I'd seen the blanket-memory game before, but found an additional game elsewhere that was a practice for the Hurry-up situations where teams draw incidents out of a hat and then have to respond with the correct first aid. I'll try to remember to let you know how that game works out if you want to add it. Nice web site. Someday we hope to have a custom site like yours, but for now we needed to use the canned approach. Thanks for putting out so much good info.

Having not attended a Cub pack Meeting in over 5 years, I was kinda feeling a bit overwhelmed as my class is on Pack Meeting Pazzazz. (I'm doing the class as a favor for a friend who is in charge of the event. Isn't that how most of this stuff gets done?! :-) Anyway, stumbling on your website has given me enough ideas that I could talk all day if needed! I'm looking forward to putting some of these ideas to use in our troop meetings. What an excellent website. Thank you so much for all the work that went into it. There are a great many boys in the Austin area that will benefit from this material. YIS, Tony

COMMENTS: I was browsing your website looking for a particular Scout project when I came across your definition of craft. It needs to be changed. The textbook and dictionary definitions of craft are as follows: A craft is a skill, especially involving practical arts. It may refer to a trade or particular art. The term is often used as part of a longer word (and also in the plural). For example, a craft-brother is a fellow worker in a particular trade and a craft-guild is, historically, a guild of workers in the same trade. Craft also refers to the decorative arts but not solely to these. Regardless, the decorative arts are filled with male role models Some of the world's most "pretty" mosaics, paintings, porcelain etc. etc. etc. are created by men. I realize young boys might associate the idea of making a craft as a "feminine" venture. This is an opportunity to provide Scout leaders and young Scouts with the proper image of craft. I hope to see a change in the website. Sincerely, Sue mother and art teacher
No, I don't think it needs to be changed. I am leaving it as it stands. I'm sorry that you don't like it but not offended.

COMMENTS: Good Day, Two things. First: the phone number for the Fanno Farmhouse and for the Jenkins Estate is 503.629.6355 and we would sincerely appreciate it if it could be changed on your website.
Also, We are a fun place to visit for gardens and park-like grounds, but the Historic value for a Go-see-it might not be that valuable as we are a rental facility that has business meetings and weddings within our buildings during the day and on the weekends.
Please call in advance to your visit. We would love to assist in your schedule. Take care.

COMMENTS: Thanks for a helpful website. I am new to this position (although not new to scouting) and I am looking forward to getting ideas and helps. The problem in our pack is family involvement. We have many parents who make sure their kids go to pack meeting, but are never there themselves and it's very frustrating. Any ideas to get them involved would be great (although I haven't looked very thoroughly yet, maybe they're already there). Thanks again!

COMMENTS: I love the Cub Scouts, I have 4 boys and this is not only fun, positive and interesting. My children do things that they might not have. This is one of the best things they could have brought forth for children growing to be adults, to do their duty to god and their country, to help other people, not based on their color or religious belief. I enjoy searching the web and seeing how many people enjoy Scouting as I. I am a mother and this helps a boy, not only be a boy but become a Man in a very Scouting way. I looked towards the scouts because I loved the fact that the things I wanted instilled in my child, I am with others who want the same thing and looked to associate and i ndulge with other parents who want the same. GOD bless and GOOD night!
