I was researching the rules for WEBELOS WOODS and Webelos camping and came across your site in the search. You have an outstanding site, and the info on Webelos camping and the rules was exactly what I needed. Really enjoyed roaming around the website.  Many thanks.

Thanks for the great site.  I have found a large amount of good information.  If I may point one little thing out.  The term "Ambulance Driver" is from days long past.
There are many EMTs and Paramedics that take offense to it's use.  This is only because it brings back the days when "ambulance drivers" would scoop you up, load you in the back of the ambulance and race to the hospital with no medical care in route.  My how things have changed.  Thanks for letting me vent a little, and keep up the good work.

I love you site, and I got some great songs from it, however, I am looking for one particular skit/song that we saw another troop do at  Webelo Woods. It consists of the troop standing in a chorus line and doing several different dance steps.  I can remember one was like the can can, and another resembled Frankenstein steps.  If you have any idea the name of this skit/song I would greatly appreciate any information.

Great site. It is a great resource for a new CM. I moved from being assistant Tiger Leader last year to CM this year. Even though I was a Boy Scout I was never a Cub. I have used your site to help with our camping trip, pack meetings, and Den Meetings. The boys love the songs, skits, and runons.
What part of Oregon are you in? Oregon is one of our favorite states, we have visited several time.
A: My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Pack 301 at their camp out at a park near Dade City. Ralph and his team ran a text book example of how to have a great time and enjoy the outdoors.
Thanks Ralph,
Bill

I hope you can help me.
Ginger Crichton sent me her edited list of Den Discipline ideas and I would like to include it in the next issue of American Scouting Digest.  She told me that most of the things on her list came from your wonderful RT site (which I have used many times in the past as a CSRTC).So many of the items that she quotes from your page are things that have been around for years and years in Powwow Books, etc.
May I have your permission to publish these ideas?  You would be listed as a contributor at the end of the article, and we would make sure that you had some copies to show at your Roundtable.
I would be placing it in the Cub Scout Roundtable section of the magazine.
It would be a wonderful way to share these terrific hints with new Cub Leaders.  Let me know if this is okay with you.
And if you are ever near Columbia SC I hope that you stop by our RT!
I will be in Vancouver/Portland area in July, perhaps we could have coffee?
A: These ideas don't help a single boy unless someone copies them and uses them. Please do.
Bill

I am a Wolf Den leader in the Ore-Idaho Council in Boise Idaho.  Just wanted you to know that I use your site quite frequently!  It is just wonderful!  Thank you for all the work you put into it!
Would like to know who composed the “I Am A Den Leader” poem?  Did you?  It sums up being a Den Leader to a tee!
A: No, I didn't write it. Back when I was doing RTs, I copied it from somewhere for our handout and, shamefully, neglected to record the source.

Follow up: 5/10/07 I recently found out that it came from Julie H. Erickson, Pack 64, Weber View District, Lake Bonneville Coucil, Ogden, UT.

Great website.  I came across it in April 2002 of last year and it was very helpful in getting me started as our pack's new CC.  This fall I will be teaching, "Program Planning and Resources" at our Council's Pow Wow and I would like to use, "Signs of Weak Pack Program Planning" as my second slide (immediately following the "10 Purposes of Cub Scouting" from the Cub Scout Leader How To Book).  I will cite your website at the bottom as being the source.  If I get this presentation scanned into .pdf, I can email it to you, so please send your email address (or physical if you would be satisfied with hard copy).
A   You're welcome to use anything here. I think it originally came from Program Helps.

Thank you for maintaining a very useful site. I noticed some problems on the site that need attention. The hotlinks for "Pack Meetings," "Parents," "Prep for BS," "New Cub Scout Pamphlets," "Cub Scout Highlights 2003-2004," "Visit the Guest Book," and "Sign Our Guest Book" are not working properly. I found "/rt/" being repeated in the URLs when I deleted the extra /rt/ from the URL, it connected properly.

I am trying to learn about Boy Scouts, actually Cub Scouts for my 1st grade son. I understand scouting starts in 1st grade. So, I came online to find the nearest cub scout troop (is troop the right word? I was in a Girl Scout "troop" at one time). It would be helpful iis there was a way to plug in a city and state, and find the nearest troops.

The information and ideas provided should prove very helpful for our pack, and den meetings. Our roles as cub masters, pack leaders, den leaders, and parents, is essential these children will be tomorrow’s leaders. We live in a society where winning is everything, we must teach our children always do their best, and be helpful to others which will help them feel great along with the personal achievement of accomplishment. I began scouting last year, and had no desire to return as a den leader, parents approached me regarding the den leader position and requested, I lead the den of tiger scouts, my reply was no to all parents. I was unable to resist one person, this person sat me down and asked that I listen, and would be able to go about my business upon the completion of the suggestion. As fait would have it, here I am a proud den leader of tiger scouts. I would like to thank my wife for her encouragement and her wonderful help, and her beautiful attitude, and these precious blessings of God, the scouts and their parents, I have decided to stay and guide these children through the remainder of there scouting adventure.

Isn't it interesting that you almost need to become a new person when you get a new job. It is a gut-wrenching, tortuous, traumatic experience, getting your brain to work at something different. The most frustrating thing that could happen to you when you are emersed in this process is that you don't even know at what different thing your brain is supposed to be working! I have been a coach for soccer, basketball and baseball. I have been a Sunday school teacher. I have helped at den meetings. I was once even a kid. But I still felt pretty clueless when I first stepped into this new role. Truth be known, I am still pretty clueless, but your web site has at least helped me start to think about it. Thank you. I have not been everywhere here, so forgive me if your site already does this, but my suggestion is this: Most? MAny of your visitors will be first-timers, and in great need of assurance...."it will be alright if you..." followed by the basic minimum requirements....set a good example, prepare (agenda), for planning meetings and more importantly pack meetings, (use these guidelines for effective pack meetings), get a good group around you, (until this year at 325 the cubmaster did everything...now we have a very capable committee chairperson who does all of the dirty work, I hope there is a site for him). I am going to go back to surfing. Thanks again.

Thank you for putting your Blue & Gold information on the web. I ended up teaching a class at our Council Pow Wow/ Show-N-Do at the last minute and had practically no time to put anything together. I could put on a Blue & Gold in my sleep but it's different when you have people who have never done this or even heard of it before. Hand outs are always a blessing. Again thank you.

Thanks for this website. I've just started looking at it but it seems to have a lot of good suggestions and gives you a focus on what you need to know to succeed at your scouting position which means the boys will ge more out of scouting. I like the part about the pack meeting being a show. You have to make the parents looking forward to that meeting as much as the kids.

Thanks for sharing. I'm new at this and am getting all the info I can. I am trying to organize and excite a small group but over the last year we have improved d/t all the web sites I have found. Our pack is not nearly as active as the ones I see on the web but thanks to you and others I'm hoping to get it there within the next 3 years. We are a small rural community near Harrisburg, PA. Our pack is about 20 years old but has not done ceremonies in the past. I am hoping to get out pack more active with all the great info other packs share. Thanks for your help. Maybe someday we can help you. Thanks Patty

What a wonderful presentation of materials! I am constanting looking for ways to have the Cub Scouts and Webelos grow. My son is crossing over into Boy Scouts this January. I plan to finish out the year (thru August) with the Cub Scouts and begin on Troop Committee in February. I am also looking for information for handling ethnic diversity issues. The ethnic population of the boys who could be in Cub Scouts, Webelos, and Boy Scouts is not reflected in our pack. About 1/3 of our population are from a Southeast Asian ethnic group. The pack has 10% from that group this year. Have you come across any information regarding how to build a pack with more diversity.
